Student Activities STAV conducts student science activities across the state, including the Science Talent Search and Science Drama Awards. Science Talent Search The Science Talent Search (STS) is an annual, science based competition open to all primary and secondary students in Victoria, Australia. The theme for 2017 is Future Earth . Science Drama Awards The Science Drama Awards help to foster creativity and integrate the study of science with reading, writing, music, art and the performing arts. The Science Drama Awards encourages entrants from all primary and secondary schools in Victoria. More information about Science Drama Awards. National Science Week 2017 Date: 12-20 August, 2017 Theme: Future Earth Lake Boga Observatory Victoria Lake Boga Observatory Victoria is assisting regional schools in the Mallee region to take part in Science Week during August. The Observatory is providing the facility to learn about the universe there are at least 6 schools in the area taking part by producing posters, competitions wring about science subjects including the earth. We have also arranged local publicity to be available the week of Science Week and also be providing a special viewing at the Observatory during the week especially for families. BHP Billiton Science and Engineering Awards Students wishing to enter the BHP Billiton Science and Engineering Awards must register for Science Talent Search in the Experimental Research section. STS Major Bursary winners for Experimental Research and/or Inventions are automatically entered into the BHP Billiton Science and Engineering Awards. The national winners of the BHP Billiton Science Awards win a trip to the International Science and Engineering Fair in the United States, where they display their entries and compete for international prizes.
