Ms Melanie Mackenzie (Collection manager – Marine invertebrates at Museum Victoria)

Mel Mackenzie is a Marine [Biologist/Scientist] at Museums Victoria. She works as a collection’s manager for a ‘library’ of spineless research specimens from our oceans.

Mel helps scientists and other groups to use the collections to answer lots of different questions about marine life. She’s particularly interested in sea cucumbers, and when she’s lucky she gets to look for them in some pretty cool places.

Ms Amy Lezala (Engineers Australia Young Engineer of the Year – Victoria)

Amy Lezala is the Level Crossing Removal Engineering Manager for Metro Trains Melbourne. She makes sure that the new infrastructure meets safety and technical requirements. Amy has a passion for railway as it is the most sustainable form of transport and it provides an important service for the community. She is always proud when she sees one of her trains go by.

Amy is a big supporter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and believes that science and engineering are needed to achieve the global challenges. Amy was recently awarded Young Professional Engineer of the Year 2020 by Engineers Australia.

Engineers Australia promotes sustainability – think before you print.
