This year, STAVCON will be held on Monday 28 November 2022 at La Trobe University, Kingsbury Drive, Bundoora, Victoria in a much-anticipated face-to-face format. STAVCON, as you may know, is one of STAV’s flagship conferences. Its audience is diverse and includes teachers of primary and secondary science and STEM, laboratory technicians, and members of the education research community and tertiary sector. In terms of the depth, breadth and richness of offerings, STAVCON is unique.

This is great PD so SAVE THE DATE!

STAVCON 2022 Keynote speakers will be announced soon!

Updates can be found on STAV’s social media, and member newsletters.

The duration of STAVCON’s workshops is typically 45-90 minutes. This includes time for participant questions, networking and discussion. One key hallmark of STAV’s conferences, is the quality of its conference programs. This is largely due to STAV’s long-held commitment to ‘hero’ the educator. Hence, at the core of its conference design is the philosophy of teachers educating teachers across a range of contemporary issues relevant to practitioners. This philosophy has further inspired the 2022 STAVCON theme: Sparking Ideas: Building connections in Science education.

After two years of presenting STAVCON online during COVID19, we are looking forward to returning to a face to face format, sparking ideas to re-engage and reconnect in this format and continuing to building connections in Science education, across the Science disciplines and to continue to lead and inspire excellence in the class room to support teachers and students alike.

Please note that due to increased demand and quality assurance, not all submissions will be accepted.  Only sessions of the highest standard, presenting excellence in their field will be considered.

As a NFP organization, STAV does not offer payment to its presenters and we trust you understand that the benefits of presenting at a STAV conference by far outweigh any prospect of payment. All workshop presenters (and one co-presenter per workshop) will receive complimentary registration to the conference as well as a small gift of thanks. If you are new to presenting, support is available to mentor and guide you. You need only enquire.

The STAVCON 2022 Call for Sessions deadline has now been extended to 11.59 pm on Friday 7 October 2022.
