Welcome to the 2025 STS Awards Showcase! Each year, the Science Talent Search celebrates the creativity, curiosity, and commitment of young Victorians who bring science to life through investigation, innovation, and storytelling.
This year’s theme, Decoding the Universe – Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language, invited students to dive into the secrets of nature, quantum science, and the cosmos. Whether fascinated by the intricacies of quantum science or curious about the mysteries of the universe, participants were encouraged to unlock their potential, challenge the unknown, and inspire the future of science.
This online showcase highlights the outstanding efforts of students, their schools, and the communities who support them.
Celebrating schools that inspire future scientists
Each year, the Science Talent Search recognises not only the achievements of students, but also the schools and teachers that nurture and inspire them. In this special presentation, STAV President Alexandra Abela announces the recipients of three prestigious honours:
- the Peter Craig School Awards recognises the high-quality entries submitted over the breadth of sections in the competitions.
- the Hugh McKnight Encouragement Awards recognises schools that have shown outstanding commitment, support, and strong participation in helping students explore and excel in science.
- *** NEW *** the Robert Roe Volunteer Service Award acknowledges the vital role of those practicing teachers who volunteer their time to assist as coordinators, judges or champions of STS in schools.
These awards celebrate schools and individuals that demonstrate exceptional commitment to fostering curiosity, encouraging participation, and supporting students to explore and excel in science
