Evidence In Practice For Teaching Science (Program 2)

This unique initiative combines a full day in-person workshop with online follow-up coaching to support you to elevate your teaching practice in science. 

Grounded in research evidence and experience from practice, each program explores aspects of explicit teaching in science. Choose the program that best aligns with your needs and priorities. Both in-person and online options are available. 

All programs will start by exploring: 

  • key ingredients of explicit teaching
  • evidence-informed resources to support science teaching practice
  • curriculum-aligned planning to support teaching with Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Science

Program 2: addressing misconceptions, scientific vocabulary and scaffolding discussion

This practical full-day workshop will focus on:

  • developing scientific vocabulary
  • effective approaches for uncovering and addressing student misconceptions
  • keys to scaffolding productive student discussion

This professional learning is evidence-informed and is aligned with school system priorities including the implementation of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Flourishing Learners and Sandhurst Diocese Magnify. 

Supported by the Department of Education Strategic Partnerships Program and delivered by the Science Teachers Association of Victoria.

Discounted registration is available to government schools, disadvantaged schools (low ICSEA) and STAV members.
