ConASTA 73

  • April 18, 2026

Under the theme Science in an Era of Rapid Change: Supporting Sustainability, the conference will explore how science education can respond thoughtfully and effectively to accelerating environmental, technological, and social change.

The program will feature keynote speakers, hands-on workshops, symposia, and practical sessions designed to support classroom teaching and laboratory work across primary and secondary contexts. Strong emphasis will be placed on collaboration, sharing of practice, and the integration of sustainability perspectives—including Indigenous knowledges, place-based learning, and long-term ways of thinking about science and stewardship.

Set in subtropical Brisbane in mid-winter, ConASTA 73 offers not only rich professional learning, but also space to reconnect with colleagues, renew purpose, and imagine the role of science education in shaping a sustainable future.

Date: 7–10 July 2026 in Brisbane (Meanjin), on the lands of the Turrbal and Jagera (Juggerra) peoples.

Venue: Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre

Hosted by the Science Teachers Association of Queensland (STAQ)
