Statewide engagement program to understand what science teachers need now and into the future
The Science Teachers’ Association of Victoria (STAV) is inviting science teachers and educators from across Victoria to help shape the future of science education.
As science education continues to evolve, STAV wants to better understand the opportunities, challenges and support needs facing the profession. Through this statewide engagement program, teachers, school leaders and education partners will help inform and shape STAV’s future priorities, ensuring the organisation continues to provide relevant professional learning, trusted resources, strong advocacy and meaningful opportunities for connection.
Whether you’re a current STAV member, a former member or have never heard of STAV, your perspective matters.
About the engagement
This engagement is designed to listen to the experiences and ideas of science teachers across Victoria. It includes a range of opportunities to participate, beginning with a statewide survey, followed by an online webinar, targeted focus groups and stakeholder interviews.
Together, these activities will build a stronger understanding of what science teachers need now and into the future, helping STAV better support the profession.
What we’ll be exploring
- the changing nature of science teaching
- professional learning and support needs
- trusted resources and quality information
- barriers to participation and engagement
- STAV’s role and future priorities
- emerging opportunities and challenges for science education.
Get involved
The first opportunity to participate is the Victorian Science Teacher Survey, which is open to all Victorian science teachers and educators and takes around 7 minutes to complete.
The survey is independently managed by social enterprise, consultancy Amplifier Collective. Individual responses are anonymous and will only be reported in summary form, ensuring participants can provide honest and constructive feedback.
Complete the survey below.
Want to contribute further?
The survey also includes an opportunity to register your interest in participating in a focus group or stakeholder interview.
These conversations will explore key themes in greater depth and help ensure a diverse range of perspectives informs STAV’s future direction. Participants selected for focus groups will receive their choice of a complimentary 12-month STAV Individual Membership (valued at $150 – $190) or 50% discount on a STAVCON 2026 or 2027 VCE Conference ticket in recognition of their time and contribution.
Thank you for helping strengthen science education across Victoria.
