Overview
STAVCON 2025 is the premier annual conference for science educators in Victoria, bringing together classroom practitioners, education leaders, researchers, and innovators to share ideas, challenge thinking, and shape the future of science education.
The VCAA provides a solid framework for Victorian Curriculum 2.0 – with clear topics, achievement standards, and assessment criteria.
But the real magic happens when that framework is brought to life in the classroom. That’s where STAVCON comes in. This is where theory meets practice, and educators come together to explore innovative, engaging, and effective ways to teach science – and to spark curiosity and deeper learning in every student.
This year’s conference will provide a platform for dynamic discussions and evidence-based strategies that support high-quality teaching and learning across early years, primary and secondary science.
To help structure our program and support meaningful engagement across the conference, submissions are being sought with key theme areas reflecting current and emerging priorities in science education.
2025 Conference Theme
Transforming Science Education
Our theme focuses on equipping educators with the tools, confidence, and curriculum-aligned approaches they need as we prepare for the full rollout of Victorian Curriculum 2.0 in 2026.
We’re seeking dynamic presentations that explore innovative, evidence-based, and practical approaches to teaching science across primary and secondary levels. Whether you’re developing curriculum-aligned resources, trialling new pedagogical approaches, or integrating cross-disciplinary thinking into your practice, we want to hear from you.
Your voice could help shape the future of science education.
