Evidence in Practice: misconceptions, scientific vocabulary and scaffolding (online)
This unique initiative combines two half-day online workshops with online follow-up coaching to support you to elevate your teaching practice in science.
What:
Grounded in research evidence and experience from practice, each program explores aspects of explicit teaching in science.
Across two half days online, this workshop program will focus on:
- key ingredients of explicit teaching
- evidence-informed resources to support science teaching practice
- curriculum-aligned planning to support teaching with Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Science
- developing scientific vocabulary
- effective approaches for uncovering and addressing student misconceptions
- keys to scaffolding productive student discussion
This professional learning is evidence-informed and is aligned with school system priorities including the implementation of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0, Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Flourishing Learners and Sandhurst Diocese Magnify.
