How can an understanding of memory enhance your science teaching?

Understanding how students learn is just as important as what we teach. In this practical webinar, we’ll explore how insights from cognitive science can help students build a robust network of scientific knowledge and deeper understanding.

You’ll be introduced to a simple model of memory and discover practical, evidence-informed strategies you can use in your classroom, including:

  • securing students’ attention
  • presenting new concepts without overloading working memory
  • avoiding split attention and reduce unnecessary cognitive load
  • strengthening long-term memory through retrieval
  • deepening understanding using elaboration and meaningful scientific connections.

Whether you teach primary or secondary science, you’ll leave with practical insights to help students remember science concepts for deeper learning.
