This issue celebrates CONASTA71, National Science Week and Science Talent Search – all amazing events showcasing and advancing science education. We unpack the new F-6 Science Victorian Curriculum Version 2.0, which continues to offer a range of contemporary, evidence based and real-world approaches to teaching and learning science. Ange Fitzgerald provides recent science education research where students from as early as Year 2 are investigating age-appropriate understanding of DNA and genetics. Lawson Power discusses the benefits and challenges of GenAI for primary science education and draws on his experiences of using GenAI in science education. Bronwen Lasky discusses trialling retrieval grids with Years 5 and 6 students in her school and presents her experience and findings, providing examples of retrieval grids and how she has used them. Publications Timeline 2024

Any person with an interest in science education – primary, secondary, tertiary and pre-service – can contribute. You don’t need to be a member of STAV, although you are most welcome to become one.

Contributors share classroom ideas and experiences, research outcomes, stories about their involvement in science and science education, career information and any other issues that contribute to improving the quality of science teaching and learning and to teacher and student interest in science-related issues.
